MY PAINTING, MY LIFE
My name is Elhaji Conde and I’m an Irish artist of African origin living in Killarney Co. Kerry. I’m very passionate about art and painting. I specialize in figurative mixed media paintings, landscape paintings, oil paintings, and portraits.
I was born in Dakar, Senegal and I started drawing when I was in primary school at age of 9. Something about the monotony and boredom of school brought out the inner artist in me. It started as doodling but practice led to mastery and I am proudly a self- taught artist.
Painting is my life. My paintings are inspired by the communities where I am from – their traditional culture, dress, music and way of life.
As a result of living in Kerry over the last 16 years, the beauty of the scenery has influenced me to do landscape scenes. The coalescence of my African heritage and this amazing Irish environment has led to some of my best work. My love of the beauty, colors, and diversity of Senegalese and African Culture in general, is also strikingly evident in my work.

I love to combine both brush and palette knife in my artistic exploration to create truly expressive oil paintings.
Many shy away from Acrylic painting due to the velocity of it’s drying but I thrive under this pressure. It grounds me in the moment allowing complete immersion in the art.
I love to create landscape paintings of my surroundings and especially love to transmit the beauty of Kerry onto the canvas.
FIGURATIVE MIXED MEDIA ART
Usually, my figurative art is about capturing the movement and energy of African dance, exotic animals, and my environment.
